Christmas in June

Liam and his Christmas Palm Tree
We are officially six months away from Christmas. Monday was June 25th, and to celebrate the day Liam and I celebrated "Christmas in June". *FYI, no spiritual undertones, just silliness. It kind of came to me the day of when I put Felicity down for her morning nap and Liam was taking a self-initiated time out in his room. I wish I would have thought of it soon, cause I would have planned better. Oh well. We worked with what we had.

I tried to find some Christmas clothes to put him in but everything was long sleeved, so we went with a red and green tie-dyed shirt from his Tia Hannah. Next year I think I will have to make some kind of Christmas shirt or tank for them.  We created a Christmas palm tree from some brown paper bags I found laying around. Liam painted the star ornaments and I painted the trunk and the leaves.

While it dried, we watched Frosty the Snowman with our snowman ornament and cut out some snowflakes. Liam really has no idea who Santa Claus is. It's all about snowmen to him.

I couldn't think of anything fun to do for dinner, so we had breakfast for dinner but the main event was Liam's first hot chocolate. Well, it was really luke warm, but it still counts. He was really into the whipped cream and asked me to refill it about four times. I'll say it was a hit.

I was thinking on making this a tradition in our family and here are some things that I thought we could do every year to celebrate "Christmas in June".

1. Decorate the House: While they are sleeping, you could decorate the living room with Christmas lights and other fun things. Keep it simple so it's easy to put up and take down. It's just for one day.

2. Wear Christmas Clothes: This can be tricky because everything Christmas themed is long-sleeved so you probably have to make something. Maybe you could make every one a shirt or have every one go to their closet and find something Christmasy.

3. Eat a Fun Breakfast: This is a day to through nutrition out the window. Eat something fun (and easy) like cinnamon rolls, powdered donuts, french toast, or waffles.

4. Listen to Christmas Music: This is a no-brainer. Pandora has some great Christmas stations. Liam was enthralled by the song "Jingle Bell Rock" because he has a stuffed dog named Jingle. I found this gem on You Tube for him.

5. Decorate a Christmas Tree: You can get really creative with this. If you have small artificial tree you can bust that out. You can make a tree out of paper like I did or make it out of fabric.

6. Watch Christmas Movies: If you don't own any Christmas movies, you might need to borrow them from someone or rent them from the Library because there for sure won't be any playing on ABC Family. I'm not kidding when I say my mom owns 30+ Christmas movies. So if you need to borrow some from her, let me know.

7. Drink Hot Chocolate: This might be the most important part of the day. I did hot chocolate with Liam this year, but I'm going to try frozen hot chocolate next year. Seems like it fits the "Christmas in June" theme a lot better.

So what do you think? What else would you add to "Christmas in June"?
